Winchester Walking Footballers started New Year as they the finished the old one by winning their their sixth succesive tournament - at Stoneham. This victory especially sweet as it was Winchester’s first La Liga divisional title when all the top teams were in attendance. Stoneham Tournament January 8th, 2025.
Winchester won their first four games and, knowing a draw would secure the title, drew the last match against Farnham Flares. Ten goals scored, and remarkably, only one conceded
After recent successes Winchester WFC were placed in the top league - La Liga - 6 teams - 5 matches each of 15 minutes duration.
The individual results were:

There were some great assists from midfield throughout the tournament. The scorers were Nash (2), Courtney (1), Dawson (1), Poffley (4) plus one own goal by Cove (after their woodwork was hit by two consecutive Winchester shots). The team's defending was particularly strong limiting the opposition to mainly long shots - with one breakaway by Compton resulting in a well taken goal. Only conceding one goal in the tournament is a tremendous situation to be in.
