Heather takes her refereeing skills to the national stage
Updated: 22 hours ago

Winchester Walking Football Club’s Heather Kirkland has added another notable achievement to her growing reputation in the sport, having been selected for the refereeing team at the FA Walking Football Cup Finals at St George’s Park last weekend.
Already recognised internationally for her coaching and her role as manager of England Women’s Over-60s, Heather is now making her mark as a referee at national level. Her selection to officiate at such a prestigious event is further recognition of her knowledge, commitment and ability.
Heather was one of three female referees selected for this year’s finals, reflecting the increasing involvement of women across walking football. As the women’s game continues to develop, seeing women taking prominent roles as players, coaches and officials provides encouragement for others to get involved.
For Winchester Walking Football Club, Heather’s contribution is something to celebrate. From supporting players on the international stage to taking charge on the pitch, she continues to demonstrate the opportunities walking football offers—and to help others follow in her footsteps.
Congratulations, Heather, on another achievement that makes everyone at the club proud!
