SPONSORSHIP

Winchester Walking Football Club have a new kit for the 2022-23 season, thanks to sponsors Greens Bar and Kitchen, 4 Jewry Street.

The shirts are maroon with black contrast side panels, Greens logo and the club badge on the front and yellow numbers on the back. The shorts are black and also feature the club badge.

The colours were chosen by Greens to match shirts worn by St Cross and Symondians Cricket Club who the restaurant also sponsor.

The shirt fabric is polyester micromesh and also includes the Masuri embroidery on the right chest.

Suppliers Masuri are based at Winnall and have set up the club's on-line store through NXT Sports.

Brian Mustoe, club chairman, said: “We are extremely grateful to Peter Neave, owner of Greens for his generous sponsorship. When Richard Tate and Sue Hume, who are regular customers, mentioned the need for help to buy new kit the response was immediate.

“Our previous kit was red and black and often clashed with other teams, or even the referee’s top, and we frequently needed to wear bibs. The new shirts are very distinct and should avoid any need to change in future. The old kit was not numbered either, and it is a requirement for some competitions.”

Peter Neave of Greens said: “I have always been passionate about our local community and the sport within it. Post pandemic there is no better vehicle than sport to bring much needed contact, health and well-being. Spanning my forty years of business in Winchester I have sponsored many, many clubs and am very proud to be a sponsor of this year's walking football team.”
