Winchester Walking Footballers to take centre stage at Winchester City’s opening friendly

Winchester Walking Football Club will be giving a half-time demonstration of how walking football is played during Winchester City’s opening friendly against Colden Common on Friday 3 July 2026.

The main game kicks off at 7.45pm, and admission is free.

This promises to be much more than a local derby. Winchester City are welcoming the wider community to enjoy a fantastic evening of local non-league football, with music, refreshments, a bar, children’s fun rides and inflatables all helping to make it a proper family night out.

At half-time, members of Winchester Walking Football Club will take to the pitch to show how the game works, why it is growing so quickly, and why it is such a great way for both men and women to stay active, meet new people and enjoy football in a friendly, inclusive setting.

The club is proud to be supported by its sponsors, Winchester Mobility, whose backing helps us continue to offer opportunities for local people to enjoy the benefits of walking football.

Walking football is ideal for anyone who loves the game but may no longer want — or be able — to play the faster, full-contact version. It is still skilful, competitive and great fun, but played at a pace that makes it accessible to a wide range of ages and fitness levels.

Whether you have played football before, are returning after a long break, or simply fancy giving something new a try, come along, watch the demonstration, have a chat with the players, and find out how you can get involved.
